Tarek Rizk
Head of MENA, Senior Managing Director Systematic
Tarek Rizk is senior managing director of the Systematic business and leads the Middle East and North Africa region at Balyasny Asset Management (BAM), where he provides strategic guidance on portfolio construction, technology, research, and talent management. Rizk also is a member of BAM’s Management Committee and oversees the firm’s office in Dubai, where he is based.
Rizk joined BAM in 2023 from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he worked for more than a decade, most recently as ADIA’s global head of alternative investments. Before ADIA, Rizk was a partner and head of tactical trading at Tages Group, and co-head of tactical trading for Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he had global responsibility for allocating to quantitative, relative value, and macro hedge funds.
Rizk has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Engineering from the American University in Cairo, an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he served as an assistant Professor of Engineering, and a PhD from The George Washington University. He also completed graduate courses in financial engineering at the University of Michigan and the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. Rizk is a member of the Board of Trustees and Investment Committee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, a philanthropic foundation that promotes the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the U.S. and globally.
